Travel Policy – Bottle House Orphanage and Nepal-China Friendship Forum

We are dedicated to making a meaningful difference through corporate social responsibility, supporting initiatives that empower vulnerable children and promote sustainable growth. One such venture is the Bottle House Orphanage, a remarkable institution as unique in its construction as it is in its mission. Established in 2004 near Sundarijal, Kathmandu, this earthquake-resistant home is built entirely from recycled glass bottles, standing as a symbol of sustainability and resilience. In partnership with the Nepal-China Friendship Forum, we provide rescued orphans and street children with shelter, education, medical care and emotional support, opening doors to brighter futures.
Our Mission
At Bottle House Orphanage, we provide a safe haven for 59 children aged 3–13, many of whom are rescued orphans and street children. The Nepal-China Friendship Forum supports the orphanage through annual donations of school materials, food supplies and daily essentials, contributing to the holistic development and well-being of every child in residence. Children are enrolled at nearby Kundalinee School, where home staff regularly visit to monitor each child's individual progress. To date, the orphanage has supported children who have completed grade 10 and gone on to live independently, a powerful testament to what consistent care and education can achieve. Our ongoing efforts focus on rebuilding and repairing the facility, expanding capacity to welcome more children, and equipping them with modern tools including a new computer lab and two Smart Digital Boards for interactive, digital learning.
Rebuilding & Repairing
Restoring the orphanage building to ensure a safe, welcoming environment that fosters growth and stability for every child.
Child Welfare
Expanding our capacity to welcome more children in need, ensuring every rescued orphan has access to shelter, nutrition and care.
Education for Empowerment
Prioritising learning through school programmes, a new computer lab, full school uniforms, seasonal materials, and two Smart Digital Boards for interactive digital education.
Community Empowerment
Fostering a nurturing community around the orphanage by engaging local volunteers, donors and partners to create lasting, positive change beyond the building's walls.
Recent Highlights and Our Belief
Recent highlights from Bottle House reflect the joy and community spirit at the heart of this initiative. A vibrant spring festival, organised with volunteers from Binzhou, China, brought together dancing, singing, painting, and storytelling by photographer Su Xue, with red envelopes and the children's passionate performances filling the day with warmth. This was followed by the handover of the new computer lab and Christmas gift distributions, igniting smiles and excitement throughout the home.
These moments remind us why we do what we do. We believe lasting progress stems from meaningful change, whether transforming children's lives through rescue and education, or building community sustainability. By merging social care with responsible tourism, we are creating a model that uplifts Nepal's cultural and environmental heritage, and proves that travel, when done with purpose, truly changes lives.
