The tour typically begins early in the morning with a hotel pickup as Kathmandu starts to wake up (around sunrise to catch the atmospheric morning light at Swayambhunath) and concludes in the evening after the Aarati ceremony, returning to your Thamel hotel around 6:15 PM to 6:30 PM.
Non-Hindus are not permitted to enter the main inner courtyard of the primary Pashupatinath temple. However, visitors can freely explore the surrounding cultural complex, view the two-tiered pagoda temple from the eastern side of the Bagmati River, and observe the activities at Arya Ghat and Gauri Ghat.
Modest clothing is required when visiting sacred Hindu and Buddhist religious sites. Shoulders and knees should be covered, and you will need to remove your shoes before entering temples, stupas, or monasteries. Comfortable walking shoes are also highly recommended since the tour involves climbing stairs (like the 365 steps at Swayambhunath) and walking on ancient stone pathways.
Photography is generally allowed in the outdoor courtyards, around the stupas, and along the riverbanks. However, photography is strictly prohibited inside the main sanctums of certain active temples (such as the main Pashupatinath temple courtyard). Your guide will advise you where pictures are permitted.
The Evening Aarati Ceremony at Gauri Ghat along the holy Bagmati River is a powerful, spiritual ritual featuring synchronized chanting (Om Namah Shivaya), burning oil lamps, incense, and bells. It provides an intimate look into Nepal's living Hindu traditions and reflection against the twilight water
