Journey Overview
The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is Nepal's most celebrated short trek and for outstanding reason. Beginning in Kathmandu with a traditional Nepali Welcome Dinner and cultural show, the route travels to the lakeside city of Pokhara and enters the Annapurna Conservation Area at Nayapul. The trail climbs through Ulleri's iconic stone staircase, Magar villages, and magnificent rhododendron and oak forests to the hilltop village of Ghorepani (2,875 m). The pre-dawn ascent to Poon Hill (3,210 m) delivers Nepal's most celebrated Himalayan sunrise a sweeping panorama of Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Annapurna I (8,091 m), Annapurna South, Machapuchhre, Nilgiri, and Manaslu igniting gold above the morning clouds. The descent via Tadapani's ridge walk and the traditional Gurung village of Ghandruk closes a perfectly balanced circuit through one of Nepal's most culturally and naturally rich trekking corridors.
