Journey Overview

Between Dhaulagiri's towering massif and Annapurna's sprawling range lies a summit that offers something extraordinary: a view into the Kali Gandaki Valley, the deepest gorge on Earth. Dhampus Peak sits at the intersection of these Himalayan giants, and reaching it requires crossing two of Nepal's most dramatic high passes before you ever set foot on the summit. Your adventure winds through remote trails that few travelers ever witness. Trek from Takam through rhododendron forests where Magar villages cling to hillsides, ascending toward Italian Base Camp where Dhaulagiri's snow walls dominate the horizon. Continue along glaciers to Dhaulagiri Base Camp itself, then cross French Pass at 5,360 meters into the stark, beautiful wilderness of Hidden Valley. Cross Thapa Pass at 5,250 meters to reach your base camp, where the summit push begins. Summit day starts before dawn. You climb through frozen terrain as first light reveals a panorama spanning from Dhaulagiri to Annapurna, with the Kali Gandaki Valley dropping thousands of meters below your boots. Standing on this summit, you understand why climbers chase these moments. The descent takes you through Marpha, Mustang's apple capital, where traditional whitewashed houses and orchards provide a gentle return to civilization. The passes are high. The views are higher. And that summit? It's waiting for you.
