Journey Overview

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek: with Annapurna Base Camp is the ultimate 13-day Annapurna experience, a complete circuit combining two of Nepal's most iconic destinations in a single seamless journey from Kathmandu. Beginning with a cultural Welcome Dinner and a Kathmandu sightseeing day visiting Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) and Patan Durbar Square, the route then travels to Pokhara and enters the Sanctuary via Jhinu Danda hot springs and Chhomrong. The ascent continues through bamboo forests and alpine meadows to Machhapuchhre Base Camp and the breathtaking glacial amphitheatre of Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m). The return descends via Sinuwa and Chhomrong before turning west through Chuile, Tadapani, and Ghorepani closing with the legendary Poon Hill sunrise at 3,210 m before the final descent to Pokhara. Farewell Dinner is included on the final Kathmandu night. Only Welcome Dinner and Farewell Dinner are provided in the inclusions; all other dinners and lunches are at the Trek:ker's own expense or included as stated in the teahouse Accommodation.

  • Annapurna Base Camp 4,130 m: Stand inside the Annapurna Sanctuary a glacial amphitheatre ringed by 14 peaks above 6,000 m including Annapurna I (8,091 m).
  • Poon Hill Sunrise 3,210 m: Nepal's most celebrated Himalayan sunrise Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, and Machapuchhre igniting gold above the morning clouds.
  • Jhinu Danda Hot Springs: Natural thermal hot springs at the start of the Trek: a perfect warm welcome to the Annapurna Sanctuary approach.
  • Kathmandu Sightseeing Day: Buffer Day 2 includes Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) and Patan Durbar Square two UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
  • Chhomrong Gateway Village: The last large Gurung village before the Sanctuary stone houses, bakeries, and the finest apple pie on the route.
  • Machhapuchhre Base Camp: Rest at 3,700 m directly beneath the sacred unclimbed Fishtail peak before the final push to ABC.
  • Rhododendron Forest Circuit: From Chuile through Tadapani to Ghorepani some of Nepal's finest spring rhododendron forest along the complete circuit.
  • Welcome & Farewell Dinners: Traditional Nepali Welcome Dinner with cultural show on Day 1; Farewell Dinner in Kathmandu on Day 12 to celebrate completion.

  • The trek is moderate to challenging. You will trek daily for 4–7 hours over hilly, sometimes steep terrain. Basic fitness, stamina, and prior experience with walking or hiking are recommended.
  • In Kathmandu & Pokhara: Comfortable 3-star hotels with modern amenities. On the trek: Teahouses / guesthouses providing basic rooms, meals, and a chance to experience local hospitality. Facilities may be simple, especially at higher altitudes.
