A beautiful cable car ride to see the Manakamna Mai, scenic mountains and spiritual bliss. And the rich history Gorkha carries. This is a dream come true experience!

Welcome! To the district of Gorkha, the land where unification of present day Nepal started. Home of The Great King Of Nepal Prithvi Narayan Shah and his army who’s effort resulted in the collection of the people; their culture and tradition from all around the this nation. Regarded by many as the crowning glory of Newari architecture, Gorkha Durbar is a fort, a palace and a temple all in one. This magnificent architectural confection is perched high above Gorkha on a knife-edge ridge, with superb views over the Trisuli Valley and glimpses north to the soaring peaks of the Annapurna and Ganesh Himalaya. From the tiny hamlet of Cheres (6km north of Mugling), an Austrian-engineered cable car soars up an almost impossibly steep hillside to the ancient Manakamana Temple, one of the most important temples in the Middle Hills. Hindus believe that the goddess Bhagwati, an incarnation of Parvati, has the power to grant wishes, and newlyweds flock here to pray for male children. Built in the tiered pagoda style, the temple dates back to the 17th century. It has a stunning Himalayan backdrop. On Saturdays and other feast days, Manakamana almost vanishes under a sea of pilgrims and the paving stones run red with sacrificial blood of goat, chicken or pigeon.

The first day starts with a cultural and historical tour of the Kathmandu valley. The second day further adds icing to the cake as we’ll visit the renowned Manakamana Temple, one of very few of its kind of temples where priest is from Magar community of Nepal. En route to Gorkha enjoy the view of the breathtaking Himalayas and finally, Gorkha Durbar itself the site every Nepali should visit.

The wish fulfilling Hindu Goddess Manakamana is situated at 1300 meters at a top of a hill surrounded by a small village community. The temple overlooks terraced fields, and the Trisuli and Marshyang-di river valleys. The hilltop also offers a vantage point for taking in the breathtaking view of the Manaslu, Himalchuli and Annapurna massifs to the north. Venerated since 17th century and commanding royal patronage, Mankamana is located south of the historic town of Gorkha and 6 km north of Mugling. Beside the temple the ancient city of Gorkha, Nepal’s only one cable car are some more attraction this place offers. Manakamana is only one of very few of its kind of temples where priest is from Magar community of Nepal.
